From life to death .. From dark to light.. From pain to peace.
A journey that begins with loss and ends with acceptance.
A master’s degree graduation project at the Lebanese University, ranked 1st for 2022 and got awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Order of Engineering & Architecture in Tripoli.

The project aims to shed light on funerary architecture as an essential element that is reflected in the human relationship with the phenomenon of death, to portray that type of architecture not as something we fear, but as space that provide individual mourners a meaningful and enduring experience so that they may better manage their sorrow, and to explore a new way of dealing with the funerary architecture in the light of contemporary architecture and innovations.
Furthermore the project turns aside the depressing silence of the cemetery design and propose a new space of tranquility leading people to have a positive attitude towards the subject of death.
In traditional burial services the ground line acts as a division between life and death, its a symbolic separation . The concept is to break the ground line and take life into the ground.
Cemetery is not a place for dead, its an architectural space that mediates between the world of the living and the world of the dead. The project can be split into two parts: emotional, and practical. On the emotional level, it takes the visitor through a healing pass, that takes the visitor through various functions (condolence hall, memory room, light room, chapel, rainbow room, meditation garden, etc…). Post this journey the visitor can make his cemetery visit an improved acceptance to death. On the practical level it offers: ecclesiastical funeral services, and crematorium.
